Druadan Forest- Dismal Spells from the Dragonrealm- DCD/DLP/Digital ( Werewolf/ Hells Headbangers )

Oh look were starting with another band from Finland. Let's see if this is a band I actually do not love lol. Druadan Forest is starting off as full on Dungeon synth and the 1st track is almost 20 mins long. This is for RPG and Gaming fans for sure after the 1st 5 mins of this album. There is a love of  Summoning and Falkenbach going on for sure. Synth and Blackened vocals are all Ive heard in the 1st rack lets see where this turns ? We have a full on Dungeon Synth album  if you like Wongraven, Lord Winds, of Non metal Burzum then this is going to be a wonderland of sound. I find this just boring and someone with a walmart keyboard and way to much time to spare. I'm not going to waste time on this as it would have been a Cruel Moon release on CMI back in the day the Midevial tone are cool at time. Just way too laid back for me  especially with 4 tracks all over 15 minutes each.

Aima- Tragos- CD/ LP/Digital ( Nuclear war now! )

Greek  Occult Blackened Death Doom with a very classic and catacombs kind of productions. Aima are off Kilter and creepy as fuck in musical presentation and vocal lines. There is a sickness to this sound that comes and goes and then it full on wall of suffocating bomastic extreme metal going on. Its more Death Doom with Blackened elements from what I'm getting with Aima  starting off. This really sounds like something that should be released on Ajna Offensive, D.M.P. or Nordvis labels . You can feel the occult vibe through out the entire release. You can just envision  " The End Times " with an album like Tragos. There is such a complexity and layering going on here as well. Aima is so dark and crushingly Doomy that the blackened death blast just make the album all the more punishing.  This is one album not leaving my playlist for a while I can tell you that.

Crypt Sermon- The Ruins of  fading light- CD/ LP/Digital (Dark Descent)

So we have what I want to say is what Slough Feg, Bathory and Pagan Altar are mixed into some Power metal Black Doom rock album. All I know is it's  catchy, progressive and ver 80's recorded in style were its full of reverb but very compressed in sound so it sounds like those great Mercyful Fate and early Judas Priest records. The vocals are so stunning they have totally have a Leatherwolf, Helloween and Metal Church element going on through out these tracks. Were bands like like  Candlemass always failed for me was the vocals not melodic enough and way too in front this doesnt have this at all. Cryot Sermon you have made a fantastic release and will be my classic heavy metal fix for weeks to come. I love the touches of full  Doom and Death metal at times too esp in the guitar tones. Crypt Sermon those choir vocals as well chilling and nice touch. I want to say you have a very Warrel Dane vocal style and that is really getting me to smile .  Look forward to checking out back catalog now too.

Fog Light- New Element- CD/Digital (Inverse Records)

The label is calling this fusion rock???  what do you get when you have The band consists members from Omnium Gatherum, Total Devastation, Demonic Death Judge, Kreyskull and Kaihoro. Nothing you are thinking on clearly a love of  King Crimson, Steve Via, Joe Satriani, Yes and Camel . This is far more 70's Prog rock meets Hard rock with some very art rock moments. Tasteful and fun . This would be amazing in a live setting so much guitar and bass noodling going on to a drummer that gets this style so well and needs to keep the band focused and on course. The solos are really the moments to check out here on both Bass abd Guitar. There is of course a jazzy overtone to complete the pictures. If you like music sans vocals and let the music sing for you then you are not going to be dissapointed for a moment.

Uburen- And the Mountains weep-CD/Digital (Self Released)

This seems to be a 3rd release from Uburen and from what I see on cover and hear this is gritty and melodic and Pagan Black metal on a very   Immortal, Satyricon meets Borknagar, Thyrfing and Manegarm  kind of vibe going on. So yes we have some Viking metal love going on here as well. The grim vocals have a very soaring style. The spoken vocals are cool mix as well.  I've always had a soft spot for extreme pagan metal like this . I really like the noisy overtones to the guitar and the very caveronous drums and bass tone. I feel a bit og kinship to bands like  Meads of Aspodel too as there is at proggy over tone that makes Borknagar stand out with this band from time to time. Uburen I know this came out in april but I'm going to give you strong press for late summer . See people are still finding this release and respectfully digging the hell out of it .
