Xtreem music artist Desecresy Interview up

1. I can hear so much Demigod, Incantation, Amorphis and Bolt Thrower in what you do . What bands influenced you to the sound  you create today?

For sure The bands you mentioned of course. Abhorrence(FIN), Benediction, Grave... All these Great bands from Morbid Angel to Mortician, from Incantation to Immolation. There are too Many bands to mention. But I never wanted Desecresy to be an imitation of bunch of bands either.

2. So many Finnish Bands has such an orignal and unique sound why do you think that is ?

Finnish people have ways of doing things against the grain sometimes. That reflects on the music too I guess.

3. How have you stayed with Xtreem Music since the 1st album to now . Most bands hope to other labels . What makes Xtreem such a great home for Desecresy?

Xtreem has always delivered what was promised. I respect that a lot since it can´t be taken for granted with all labels. Xtreem also has good catalog of DM bands so I think itÅ› a good label for Desecresy.

4. How does the live and recorded sides of the band differ. Which to you enjoy more or what makes each special to the band?

As Desecresy doesn´t Do live, the creative process of songwriting is the sole important thing.

5. Going on a Decade of recording albums how has the scene changed and what are you thoughts of the modern day underground metal scene?

At least in Finland death metal has become more presented in the last decade. There are even couple of re-occuring events dedicated to death metal in Finland, which I could have not imagine before. Over all I think thge scene is good nowadays.

6. What has things like Bandcamp, You tube,  Twitter, Webzine and Podcast done for the extreme metal world . Let us know both good and bad?

It is easy to get to hear and to get to be overwhelmed by everything out there and it’s easy to miss some gems because of that. It is still better to have too much to choose from than too little. The negative is that music becomes too easily disposable and over looked.

7. What is the scene like Helsinki ? are there any local bands you like to give some much needed press

I’m not very familiar with the scene if there really is specific one in Helsinki.

8. Towards Nebulae is there a story or theme behind it? How does the sinister artwork tie into all of the tracks?

The album follows a post Apocalyptic story of spirit travelling beyond death. I made the artwork as a visual illustration of the albums lyrics and the music. This is important factor in every Desecresy album.

9. If you could cover any song that you could which would it be and why?

I probably wouldn´t cover a death metal band because theres no point in making another version of a death metal song. ID rather make DM cover of a song that is totally different. I have thought of making a cover of blondies ”one way or another”. Maybe some day. There are couple of AC/DC songs that could work. It shouldn´t just be a song with death metal vocals, but a version that would sound authentic death metal if you had not heard the original.

10. In 4 words Describe the band to someone about to listen to Desecresy for the 1st time?

Dark atmospheric death metal

11. If a label like Nuclear Blast or Relapse came to you would this even be an interest or would you pass and why?

If I wasn´t under any contract I would be interested, but I cant really even speculate on such surreal hypothetical situation.

12. Do the members of Desecresy have other projects of there own and like to talk about them?

Im the only member now, so no.

13. How does Image and Visuals present itself to the band and its fans? Is that something important in 2019

There has always been bands that focus on visuals and image. For Desecresy the visuals play some role in form of the album artwork. The image of members (again just me at this point) is not important.

14. Out of all the albums which record should someone that never heard Desecresy Start with in the bands opinion?

I would say the new one. Or start from the first album and see where it goes from there.

15. Thank you for the time any closing thoughts here..

Nothing to ad. Thanks for the interview!
