Redefining Darkness Artist- Caustic Vomit Interview up

1. How did the  crusty doom meets  grindy hardcore punk sounds of Caustic Vomit come to be?

Our rotten hails to you and your zine, well, none of us are punk enthusiasts actually. We are spewing our putrescence hailing at the altar of ancient morbid death/doom of late 80's and early 90's.

2. Caustic vomit seems to be an unusual  name for a band so doomy? Reasons behind name?

MANGLED TORSOS and PYOGENESIS also weren't "doomy" names, though these bands managed to give us some of the most significant works of this genre. Caustic Vomit is an abstract representation of our sound.

3. What bands inspired  the band to make what we hear on Festering  Odes to Deformity? I hear Womb, Worship, Noothgrush , Grief, Thergothon and incantation  to name a few..

INCANTATION is definitely in the mix, being one of the darkest death metal bands ever. As for others... ancient death/doom relics are the key. MYTHIC, DISEMBOWELMENT, RIPPIKOULU, DELIRIUM, ETERNAL DARKNESS, early MORGION... the list could go on and on.

4. How did the partnership with  Redefining darkness come to be ?

Thomas is a great fellow who isn't new to Russian scene, as he already released some ripping stuff by PYRE, CIST and WOMBRIPPER! We already knew that he is reliable, so the pact was sealed very fast and we are writhing in demented delight to have him spreading our filth.

5. Is there a reason that this is tape and digital only release and not on CD or vinyl?
Vinyl could happen sometime, but we wanted to put this on tape originally, as we consider it the best format for demos.

6. Four words to describe you're sound?

Flesh melting death doom!

7. Live vs Studio how does Caustic vomit  differ and why?

There is no much difference, as our "studio" is actually our rehearsal room with no proper sound isolation. So our sound on the demo is pretty much as raw as we sound when we are playing in front of you.

8. Just 3 songs on Festering  Odes to Deformity was an ep the plan all along.

Yeah, the plan was to release a three-track demo all the way.

9. If you could make a proper video for and of the tracks on Festering  Odes to Deformity which one and why?

Umm... probably none, but there could be some live (vile) footage soon, cause we are supporting Finnish cult weirdos ...And Oceans this month!

10. Is there a theme  on Festering Odes to Deformity?

This is not a conceptual release, though the title of this demo is speaking for itself.

11. The artwork is so primitive how does it play to theme of album?

We originally released it with the border art that you can now find inside the physical shape of our demo. The art direction was based on the opening track, "Immured In Devouring Rot".

12. Were do you see the next Caustic Vomit heading sound eise?

Only deeper and deeper into the abyss...

13. How has the age of bandcamp, soundcloud and YouTube  change underground music for extreme artists?

These services are giving you the opportunity of instant sharing your stuff/communicating with other rotheaded maniacs like us all over the world. Being here in Russia, using the old ways of tape trading would definitely be absolute DISASTER!

14. What bands are currently impressing the members  of Caustic vomit ?

We are totally into many of these new American death metal bands like MORTIFERUM, FETID and CEREBRAL ROT! These fiends rule!

15. Any closing thoughts  here..

Keep your swollen eyeballs on us, more gross gory mess is already gurgling within the crypts...
