Spanish Death Metal Maniacs BloodHunter Interview up

1. So 1st question on this amazing reissue of your Debut S/T album why do it on your own without label support?

Dani Arcos: Actually, the reissue will be released by CD Music in digipak format including a poster of the Live in Madrid artwork.

2. The Spanish Death scene is a thriving one. Tell us about some of your favorite bands from you Nation?

Dani Arcos: We have many good bands such as Aposento, Avulsed… which are old school Death Metal, and also other bands like Death and Legacy which do a modern Melodeath.

3. Your last album  "The End of Faith" was released on Xtreem music, a legendary Death/Doom label from Spain. Are you still working with them on the 3rd LP we are hearing about?

Dani Arcos: We are currently negotiating with different labels. Let's see who releases it.

4. How in 2020 do you think social media has changed the way extreme underground music is released, presented and viewed by the world?

Diva Satanica: I think many things have changed due to this pandemic but also before all of these health issues started. People just buy physical CDs when they want to increase their collection, but they use Spotify to listen to their fave albums. Probably selling merch is the best alternative for bands nowadays and that has a big impact on social media too because people post pictures wearing those t-shirts of their favorite bands and they help to spread the word about musical projects on social media. Moreover, IG allows you to share music from Spotify on your stories, so that’s another good way of reaching more audiences.

5. your offical website http://www.bloodhunter.net/ is very impressive do many people still visit it or is it more of a bandcamp and Facebook world now?

Dani Arcos:I think that nowadays, the more active social network is Instagram. A website is necessary, because when people hear about you they need a place to find all details about the band. We receive visits from different countries and they usually check our upcoming dates along with our music.

6. Being a female fronted Death metal force do you have any vocal limitations at all as Diva got some amazing grunts and gutturals going on for sure?

DS: Vocal range is not a big issue in extreme metal singing as you can see. There are a lot of amazing female singers that can perform the deepest growls and the highest screams, it only depends on your technique. But thank you very much for your kind words, it’s really appreciated!

7. If you were asked in 5 words to describe the band's sound how would the band do so for someone about to listen for the 1st time?

Dani Arcos: Melodic metal with cool riffs and growls.

8. So i was reading and it looks like Diva is the new vocalist for Nervosa now. How do you feel this will change Bloodhunter at all?

Dani Arcos: The only thing that will change is that we will need to have a better schedule of our live dates, as she will be busy with Nervosa and the other guys with their respective bands or projects.

9. What can we expect with the upcoming 3rd release that differs from the 1st two releases?

Dani Arcos: Our music has been evolving since the very beginning in the same direction. I think the new songs are a step forward under the same basic pillars: crazy riffs, a broader vocal range, some blast beats and lots of shred and leads. Also, we are doing our best to make it sound better than ever.

10. Is there a certain Aesthetic that you are looking for when creating songs for Bloodhunter?

DS: Our lyrics deal with occultism, philosophy… I feel very passionate about all these subjects but I try to write some kind of metaphor between that and our daily lives so when you read the lyrics you can have a wider interpretation and probably get more identified with those feelings.

11. There have been some line up changes since the last full album. How have those changes to Drummer and guitars made the band a strong force then before?

Dani Arcos: We hired Marcelo to record the album and he joined us later to play live, so we presented “The End of Faith” with him. Sadly, he didn’t compromise with the band, so we had to recruit Carlos Vivas as our drummer. Regarding guitars, I called G. Starless before starting the tour after releasing “The End of Faith” because many songs have 2 guitars and it is important to make them sound good when playing live. Later, he joined us full time too. He has written some songs for the upcoming album so you will feel his magic touch on the new songs very soon.

12. How does live vs studio change the band over all presentation? The Live ep that comes with reissue is stunning. That is why I ask?

Dani Arcos: When I was younger I was always listening to live albums such as “Live After Death”, “Priest… Live!”, “Stockholm Knockout Live”, “Vivus!”... I think a band is good when their live show is good. Many bands have a crazy production for studio albums and when you watch them live, you can feel that something is not working.

Our fans usually let us know the opposite: they love our live shows more than our studio albums, so this is for them.

13. Thank you for the time any closing thoughts here .

Dani Arcos & DS: Thank you so much for this amazing interview and for letting us spread the word about our band. Hope you all are doing good. See you soon!
