The sounds of nightmares are the hopes of others ...

Warsenal- Feast your eyes- Digital/LP/CD (Svart Records)

Canadians understand Speed and Thrash metal like few others and with Warsenal we are full on status of this ideal. I feel like the late 80's early 90's Metal scene is coming screaming with all gears open . Feast your eyes has those throaty vocals, shredding guitar riffs, driving Bass and over the top punk meets thrash drums. If Metallica, Death Angel, Exciter, Kreator  and Exodus early works were revisited and made today it would be called Warsenal. There are some very Overkill and Sodom moments going on here as well. Svart totally loving this album so glad you birth it into the world in 2019 . We needed a another classic sounding thrashing good time and got it plus more.

Aegrus- In Manus Satanas- Digital/CD  ( Saturnal )

Finnish Black metal as cold, bleak and spiteful as it is massive and drive in that very atonal way that only Blackened Guitar and Vocals can create in the atmospheric realms. This has a very lat 90's  Scandivanian Black metal overtone. Were they like to use haunting and occult sounding melodies with a nightmarish feeling through out. if goes from raw and blistering to Melodic Black Death. Aegrus have what I would call War metal moments as well as Dark metal times as well.  This is clearly not a simple listen but even at that comment. They are very much fans of the 1st and 2nd wave Swedish and Polish black metal wave and it comes out very much on the album through out . Satan is very much one with this band and if you miss the days that black metal was more sinister and less theatrics then Aegrus my friend is for thee.

Opium Lord- Vore- Digital/ CD (  Sludgelord Records )

UK and  Industrial ,Doom and Sludge gee where would that even make sense??
If you mixed  Old Swans, Buzzoven, Phobos, Primitive man, Iron Monkey and Moss together. This is thunderous, ugly , noisy and unforgiving .Everything you want from a band like  Opium Lord. I guess they went through alot of shit with Candlelight and now have found a home with  Sludgelord a very much match for the sound they create . Doom and Sludge work so well together especial with some more industrial and machine like vibes going on through out. If Melvins went a big more Industrial doom I swear they would be Opium Lord. There is something so very unsettling about this record and odd in a good way. Really is your turn to tell me all the sick and vile sounds you hear in this brilliant album.

The Kryptik- When The Shadows Rise - Digital/LP/ CD ( Purity Through Fire)

Atmospheric and Epic  Black metal with the vibe of bands like  Early  Dimmu Borgir, Limbonic Art, Dawn and Old Mans Child . This  Brazil band is impressive to say the least and the cover has a much more raw and mystical over tone then the music at hand we have again much more  Atmospheric and Occult vision going on with  The Kryptik at times I would say they are even in tune with bands like  Hecate Enthroned and Bal Sagoth in the arrangements and over all presentation. They also have that And Oceans and Horna . The more I listen to The Kryptik the more I getting pulled in to the Hypnotic elements of the grim orchestral and symphonic layers to all of this. Again another massive undertaking in a very underground genre and the rewards are so very many indeed.

Tableau Mort-Veil of Stigma. Book I Mark of Delusion- Digital/CD ( Loud Rage Music )

Another Slice of Black metal from the UK from Romanian Transplants and this time again we have a cold and grim level of Atmospheric Blackened symphonic hate. The vocals with Tableau Mort are a bit more venomous and spiteful. With that in mind the very Orthodox religious musical overtones with the mix of  Death/Black and Crusty overtones just makes this a more and more interesting journey into the world that is  Tableau Mort. My mind keeps coming back to Batushka, Cult of Fire and  Rotting Christ . All of this makes me really want to dig more into this band but this seems to be the 1st proper release so damn it we need to make sure they keep this going and more releases come. Support this new force and keep interesting and thought provoking Black metal in the world .
