Svart Records Artist- PH interview is up

PH Interview

1.  Tell us  a bit how  MR Peter Hayden became PH and why the change?

L: The constant change is an essential part of our existence. The PH-monogram has been our emblem since the very beginning, so we do not consider this as change but progression. As natural as progression is I do not quite understand the need to explain it. I am more interested in why some do avoid the change and limit themselves, refuse to progress.

2. I hear elements of  Electro Industrial, Doom, Neoclassical, Dark Jazz , Soundtracks and Noisey Post Punk. What  came to Bring the sounds on Osiris Hayden?

L: Guidance.

3. The Artwork for albums always seems to involve the band logo is there a reason behind this?

L: Whatever our written name was, we have and will always identify ourselves through this monogram. It is more than a logo, an emblem, our true name.

4. I hear elements of bands like  Ulver, When, Mogwai, Hawkwind, Porcupine Tree Jesu, US Christmas and SubArachnoid Space. Did these band influence at all?

L: Some of those names we have not even heard of, but I am sure all of them have gained the earned recognition by staying true to their own vision. That is the most important thing. Instead of harvesting ideas and influences one should trust the instincts, be guided and so find treasures that have not been found before.

5. Live or Studio which brings the most pure vision of PH?

L: Both are reflections of the pure, born of the vision. I am pretty sure one needs to experience and study both to get near the experience we are going through, though it might be unnecessary and one can pick whichever interpretation and just enjoy the trip.

6. The  four albums previous how to they tie into and differ from Osiris Hayden?

L: A very complex case. I would rather let everyone find the connections and musical evolution etc. themselves.

7. IF PH could have any band cover one of youre songs which band and what song would like to see that happen with ?

L: Every cover would be interesting, was it an unknown artists or a former cult-hero broken into mainstream. Mainly because it is intriguing to hear what another set of minds can dig out of the songs, how the ideas keep progressing etc.

8. Svart is a very interesting and eclectic label how did you come to work with them and what do you hope to get with the continued partnership?

L: We asked them if they would like to work with us and they wanted, plain and simple. We have plans and the support and what we are going to achieve has little to do with hope.

9. How is the response to Avant and experimental music in 2019 vs the 1st album you created ?

L: Haven’t really paid attention to this, very hard to say. I hope the response is more open and people are more willing to challenge themselves to find new experience. I also hope that the reasons are pure and not related to any scene things, you know.

10 Is Vinyl and Cassette formats the rebirth of an underground musical revival or will Digital be the true future moving forward?

L: What was forward again?

11. How has things like  You tube, Bandcamp, Soundcloud and Blogs changed the musical landscapes for the underground artist?

L: A lot at least, I suppose. World gets smaller and for an artist that can be a pro or con, as do so many other things. Staying true to one’s vision is much more important than overanalyzing the operational environments.

12. If it all ended musicially today what would you want the world to remember most about  PH?

L: World can remember what the world wants to. This is not made for the world, but for us. It is due a need to create and channel, not for pleasing anyone.

13. Do the members of PH have other projects the world and my readers should have the chance to witness and hear?

L: There are some, if I had to mention one it would be Koiramato, producer of our 2012 hit ‘Born A Trip’. She has been a little silent lately though.

14.  What makes Finnish music so special and different  from Doom, Black and Death Metal to Avant Rock to Electronic to Punk . You just know when its Finnish. Why do you think that is ?

L: Could it be the courage to stay true to ones vision, not letting surrounding influences affect too much and trusting the instincts, guidance and oneself’s own vision?

15. Are there any bands that are impressing the members of  PH that we should check out ?

L: The Wastement related friends Dark Buddha Rising, Oranssi Pazuzu and Atomikylä. Also Detalji is worth a check.

16. Thank you for the time any closing thoughts here.

L: Thank you for having us and hope you too enjoy the new album, see you on tour.
