Jess By The Lake- Under The Red Light Shine-CD/Digital/LP ( Svart Records)
So Jasmin Saarela has gone solo for a record and its about damn time . Jess and the ancient ones is one of the better fuzzed out Doom/ Prog rock band on the Svart roster. With her first proper solo album we go much deeper in the bluesy/ soulful side of " Jesse" you hear alot of Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Amy Winehouse and Grace potter . This album is powerful, heartfelt and drive with conviction on each and every stellar track. Jasmin's vocals with the pianos and warm retro blues guitars work so well. Her vocals just melt the most harden persons soul and lets them in for a journey you will not see often, This could very much be a Motown or Chess release any day. Svart you have an instant classic just sitting on my speakers. Under the red light shine has so many stunning elements it will take multi listens to even crack the surface.

Sabbath Assembly -A Letter of Red- CD/Digital/LP (Svart Records )
Sabbath Assembly just again are mixing elements of music that draws me to it in the strongest of ways. Prog, Doom, Fuzzed out rock and Occult elements. The choir's are just so damn catchy it makes you want to go back for more and more. The dark and light in the arrangements just works so well with the power and sultry vocals that are being projected. The Hawkwind meets Heart guitar riffs just work to prefection . Love the galloping guitar and bass moments with those organs and retro synth movements. I know i'm gushing but Sabbath Assembly really never let me down musically or vocally. Svart you have now a second review in this edition as your label has really become a top 5 in my listening rotation. Darkness and Evil can be beautiful as it comes as Sabbath Assembly!!

Bethlehem -Lebe dich leer- CD/Digital/LP (Prophecy Productions)
As one of original bands to be coined " Dark Metal" I feel that this may even be too limiting a title for them now as Behtlehem once again reinvents themselves. Bethlehem has had half dozen vocals and now with Onielar back for a second time that doesnt happen often with this group . We have moved more in the Dark electronic, Cold wave, Post punk and Death rock styles and harmonies still keeping the Black /Death and Doom elements there and the vocal sickness that only Deinonychus, Abyssic Hate and Silencer have really match to any level . Really love those Dark Avant Gothic overtone that come in when Onielar whispers. Bethlehem are the sounds of what true madness and mental illness come from. There are hopeful moments that turn on a moments notice and becme beautiful and ugly at the same. Bartsch has keep the powerful bleak and masterful " Dark Metal" world at its knees for over two decades now and I see nothing letting up .
