Dim Arcana - Ars Populi-CD (Black Drone)

Remember the days of Dark Vinyl, World Serpent, CMI and Cold Spring when Neoclassical and Noise would merge into an experimental aural experience.  Dim Arcana have a lot in common with project like Protagonist, Raison D Etre, Valefor  and  Blood Axis in what I hear this seems to be all in latin and works well with the Dark Drones, Klanks waves of reverb and martial simple percussion and the elements of harsh noise the wave through out the album as we build within this journey. There is a creepy demonic element to Dim Arcana as well. At think it almost Black Industrial but has to much ambiance going on . Cased with in a lush digipak with a 12 page booklet . Black Drone lives up to there name with this haunting soundscape as a backdrop to the new dark age.

Bloodsoaked- The Death of Hope-CD (Comatose Music)

So what we have here is the third album by the one man Death metal machine. Peter has again given us a view in to a more classic Melodic Death metal sound that is very much what you remember from the good old day of Earache, Roadracer and Nuclear Blast . When Death metal was about the riffs, brutality and creativity that made it something exciting to listen to. The Songs and arrangement's are amazingly well done here. The vocals are so well done you would swear your listening to an old Morbid Angel, Vader or Deicide album . The songs are more complex then last time but still hold that catchiness that is needed for this very important sound of American Death Metal. Bloodsoaked always has the extreme thrash element of bands like Kreator or Forbidden going on that just adds the extra layer of coolness to it all. I really think No God is by far my favorite song on this album... Raise your horns high as this will be the album to take Bloodsoaked from the indies to the big leagues.

Planks- The Darkest of Grays/ Solicit to Fall-CD (Southern Lord)

Post Hardcore, Sludgecore, Doom Punk call it what you want all I know is it simply kicks ass. Think of Earlier Neurosis mixed with Today is the day, His Hero is Gone, Crowbar and healthy dose of Kiss it Goodbye and Isis for good measure. If you like th Deep Six, Slam a ham, Pessimister days of sludge doom and noise rock then Planks is something you should be all over this band really has it all Melody, Power, Low end, Massive riffs and vocals that can take down a mountain lion. Southern Lord limited releases are becoming some of the favorite gems of 2011.  I really was missing music like this very grateful to have it back and in such a passionate manner. Planks mixes so many sounds and styles into what becomes all there own. It really goes from delicate guitar moments to full on wall of sonic destruction through out this release. Again get this at all costs such a great release I need to hear more now..

Trillion Red- Two Tongues-CD EP ( Self Released)

Let's start with this is one twisted ass event in the making . Trillion Red is like if you had Devon Townsend, Satyricon, Polkadot Cadaver and Mike Patton have creation focused on making Avant hard rock that was influenced by Voivod, Pink Floyd and AC/DC all at the same time. I think I'm in love with this band they have opened my eyes on how extreme  experimental heavy rock can be polished, groovin and down right amazing. If Trillion Red can not find a proper Distro and Label home to get this out to the masses then there is a major crime in the worlds ears. As this could be a new musical revolution . Trillion is really that good think Virus, Enslaved and Red Harvest all wrapped up into a stew of music brilliance. Mandatory listening here ... I will be trying to get interview with this band for sure . This duo needs to get the word out on all they do. Brilliant sheer Brilliance...

So Hideous , My Love- To Clasp A Fallen Wish With Broken Fingers-CD ( Play the Assassin)

I know nothing of this band just got this from the Earsplit Pr camp and from the influences that are being used I need to hear this Ep and really see if if its Post Blackened Rock with elements of Orchestral and Neoclassic movements. As it starts it reminds me of a cross between Circle, Godspeed your black emperor then goes is some crazy Post Hardcore vibe.. If Wolvserpent, Wolves in the Throne room and Dead Can Dead were all influenced by Noise Rock and Punk rock then I think I can see very much were this band came from . The strings are down right soul aching in beauty and the power the rock side of this band has is really second to none . I don't think Play the Assassin label with be unknown for long with a release like this . All they have to do is open for a bigger band and they will explode on the scene like a plague and there will be no turning back. This is so delicate and epic at the same time words can really not come close to just hearing this. This band and the music will change you forever towards both the light and the dark.. Hats off to this grow you have me stunned and thankful I got to hear this all at the same time.
