From Brutality to Bubbly Welcome to what 2020 is ....

BASEMENT TORTURE KILLINGS –  LESSONS IN MURDER- DIGITAL/CD ( BIZARRE LEPROUS PRODUCTIONS)

This album is laid out as a crime scene documentary. You need to listen to it to fully understand from Album cover to intros to the tracks. This U.K. unit is all about  snuff and serial killer and is clearly a Grinding Death metal project with some extreme thrash thrown in for good measure. If you like  bands like  Exhumed, Carcass, Aborted, Locked up I would even say there are Crusty elements like His Hero is Gone and From the Ashes,  mixed Thrash like  Exodus and Violence. There is a thick groove to some of these tracks . The big thing is the album is so well produced that you can hear everything all the tones and those great scream along vocals that make that Thrashing Grind sound work so well. Basement Torture Killings are reinventing the wheel here and that is not what it's all about. This is fun and gore filled Metallic ride that you will not want to miss.

ENGUTTURALMENT CEPHALOSLAMECTOMY – GLAM NOT SLAM - DIGITAL/Cassette/CD(GORE HOUSE PRODUCTIONS)

So a Slam/ Death metal band of of Indiana . While musically complex and diverse there are two things with Slam that always just get to me the Pig Sequels and the Drums being so damn dry especially on the snare.  When this becomes a complex brutal Death metal album and has those Tech Death harmonies ENGUTTURALMENT CEPHALOSLAMECTOMY  is fucking  spot on. otherwise he seem like all the other Slam bands that started with my total dislike of Internal Bleeding. I just want Slam to think more out of the box don't get me wrong there are some. This album is a 50/50 love hate adventure. Sometimes extremity can come across as forced at the place that  ENGUTTURALMENT CEPHALOSLAMECTOMY shines is with at Catchy Tech/ Brutal Death style need more of that and less in your face Slam movements.

The Path of Memory Hell is Other People -DIGITAL/LP/CD ( Iron Bonehead)

Holy Shit an honest to God Death Rock/Post Punk band on Iron Bonehead I would have never thought we would see that and a stunning one at that. This I would see coming from Svart, Southern Lord, 20 Buck Spin . I take that back a newer band they have Rope Sect comes into this mindset as well. But these melancholy tones, deep sorrowful vocals and music that instantly draws you in . Listening to this  I hear bands like Killing Joke, Beastmilk, Grave Pleasures even The Mission UK and Early The Cure. Then they go darker Death Rock elements often . The more I listening to The Path of Memory there are elements of  bands like Joy Division, Pixies and Bauhaus as well. Iron Bonehead I will love to see you grow with more artist like this the Clean somber electric and acoustic with the dark heavier elements really makes this for one of the more interesting journeys I've had in the last few weeks to listen too.

Fatum Aeternum -Singing Songs of Desperation- Digital/CD ( Self Released)

This Ep is a bit of a mind fuck coming to me at final review that I'm covering for this batch. From Israel, Fatum Aeternum work elements of  Electronic, Goth, Industrial, World music, Ethno Ambient,Power/ Symphonic metal and Pop music. I would mix bands like  Pain, Dead Can Dance, Skyclad, Alice Cooper, Dismal Euphony, Third and the mortal, Within Temptation, Oomph!, Kontrust, and Unleash the Archers all into some very odd mash up that seems work. The Deep Male Goth Vocals and Angelic Female vocals work like a charm. This EP is so damn hooky and has amazing strings and that Eastern/Celtic sound just draws me in over and over again. At times I evern hear The Kovenant (Norway) yes the Electro metal band with Mayhem and Dimmu Borgir member. Fatum Aeternum make you want to jump up and down and side to side. The infectious sounds coming from this EP are unstoppable. These folks need more exposure for sure and for one I'm very glad to be doing so. This came out in May so don't miss out. I'm going to be digging more into this band for sure.
