answers by Simon Hawemann:

1. Being very new to the band give us a history I know you have a few releases before Voyeur?

We started out as a side-project in 2005 and have since released 4 albums and a lot of Split releases. We have been playing since 2006 and started touring more extensive in 2007. We have signed with Season of Mist in 2012 and they just put out our latest album VOYEUR.

 2. Your music to my ears is a mix of bands like And Oceans, Meshuggah, Strapping young lads and bands like Dead guy and Converge is this close. The manic chaos going on here is wonderful?

Yeah, those bands are definitely among our influences. There also is a lot of Black Metal influence in our sound, but I'm not talking traditional Black Metal of course, but the more experimental stuff like Deathspell Omega. I also listen to quite a bit of Contemporary Classic and it has a lot of impact on my writing, especially in terms of atonality and dissonance.

3. How did you come to work with Season of Mist?

Our contract with Lifeforce was running out and we were thinking about labels we would like to work with. Season of Mist was on top of my list and I'm really glad they ended up wanting to work with us as well. They have a great roster and we're proud of being a part of it.

 4. If you were asked to think your align your musical ideals with the Post Hardcore movement or the Experimental Metal side?

Well, I am more inclined to the experimental Metal side these days. I have been growing up in the Hardcore scene and it used to be very interesting some years ago, with bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Ion Dissonance, Cave In, Botch, Coalesce... you name it. There isn't much going on with this particular side of Hardcore, unfortunately. So lately there has been a lot of interesting new stuff in the extreme Metal underground and extreme Metal plays a bigger role in our music these days, while the more Hardcore-based things were happening on our second album 'In Shoals'.

 5. What is a live show like your music is so dynamic it must be intense to say the least?

I wanna say it is. We're trying to take the extreme nature of our music into our live show. It is important to us to be able to deliver what you hear on our records.

 6. What your thoughts on the digital age (Facebook, Web zines, You tube) a mandatory evil or the new underground in the truest of the word?

A little bit of both, I guess. It is easy to promote yourself one on hand, so you do have a lot of control about what's getting out there. On the other hand there is just too much of all. And it seems like too much is never enough. I have the feeling that a lot of bands have dumbed down the ways of promoting themselves to make it as easy for people to follow them as possible. A lot if pop culture and mainstream ways have been incorporated into the Metal/core world and it seems like the bands are choosing that for themselves, which makes me sad. I like the quality and ambition of an underground movement and you rarely even find that in more extreme or heavy music today.

7. Do you prefer the studio or going out live and showing the masses your music on a stage?

I like both, almost equally. Being creative and getting to record the result of that creativity is very challenging and pleasing. Taking it on stage turns it into action, though. We live to be a live band.

8. This there a running theme for Voyeur??

the Artwork work is rather unsettling to say the least? Well, the name says it all, it is about voyeurism, stalking, paranoia and so on. We were trying to turn the uncomfortable feelings you would associate with all of that into music. I am fascinated by the darker sides of human psychology and it inspires me to write music and lyrics, so it all goes hand in hand.

9. What are the members of War from a harlots mouth currently listening to anything that would surprise us? Always, I guess?!

We don't exclusively listen to music like the one we're playing. To name a few things we like that you probably wouldn't expect: Tears for Fears, Smashing Pumpkins, Silverchair, Gang Starr, Björk, Portishead, M83, Type O Negative and so what.

 10. Is your early material similar to your release on Season of Mist or has the sound changed greatly album to album?

You could say that the idea is still similiar but it's refined and more on point these days. It took us a while to really find our niche and we finally figured it out with our previous album MMX.

11. Were do you see this band heading on future release more experimentation or ?????

We're really happy with our current sound and I think we really just want to write better and better songs on the basis of our current sound.

12. If there was one band you could tour with that you havent yet or just really want to do so with, who would it be and why?

I'd like to tour with bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Meshuggah, Gojira or Gorguts among others. Even the Deftones would be great, although it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

 13. Thanks for the time any closing thoughts here...

Thank you and you're welcome. Just check out our new album VOYEUR and if you want to catch us live, look intowww.facebook.com/wfahm for tourdates. We are gonna be back on the road in March 2013 as part of the Bonecrusher Tour. Simon/WFAHM
