DARK CELEBRATION -Phlegeton: The Transcendence of Demon Lords-CD (Paragon Records)
Paragon is one of those US label that has really been impressing me over the years and there is nothing less then good things to say about Dark Celebration. They are a very talented Death Metal troop from South America . Dark Celebration take a good nod from the 90's Florida Death metal scene specially from bands like Brutality and Obituary. There is a kindship in sound to the band The Chasm as well esp in the guitar tones. Dark Celebration add a hardcore element to there sound that some of the newer Death metal bands have been working with as well. So there is a modern tone to the tride and true sound of the old school death metal love going on here. I do like the very Black metal way the vocals come across from time to time as well. The final piece of the puzzle to this is a major live of thrash as I hear a ton of bands like Forbidden and Sodom in the structure of the sounds as well. This is a well rounds metallic force that must be checked out from a label that love to support lesser known artist...

Eagle Twin-THEY SPIT; FIRE AND WISDOM IN ONE BREATH-CD (Southern Lord)
Eagle Twin are that brand of fucked up disjointed Doom, Noise, Post Rock mix that was started with bands like Earth, Neurosis and Godflesh/Jesus etc but Eagle twin like to add some hardcore elements into there music and indie rock for good measure. The vocals are deep and throaty but never in growl or gutteral manner. They remind me a lot of Attila in Mayhem and King Buzzo in Melvins. The guitars and bass are dirty yet fuzzed and droning at the same time. The drums come from a Jazzcore/ Avant side of things and the two styles together come across amazing. I understand this ex members of Iceburn and this is were the Jazzy Hardcore side comes from. But I swear Eagle Twin wants to be 2 bands in one Mevins and Earth if you can mix the two at times I'm telling you its Eagle Twin. " They Spit" is a stellar showing of have to mix 4 styles of vastly different music and make it an ass kicking on CD.....

The Impulse Eclectic- Canyon of Spiders-CD ( Self Released)
The 1st thing that comes to mind from this new Chicago, IL unit is bands like Rodan, Early Smashing Pumpkins, Isis and Russian Circles to you get my point right Heavy Indie meets Bombastic Post rock. As we go through the 1st track its an instrumental . There is a atmospheric sound that goes from the fragile to deep and dark all in the same movements. The mix of Clean and Fuzzed and Distorted guitar with a very prog/jazz rhythm section is want is really catching my ear at the moment. If you Like Pelican your going to love this band my friends. Let also let the world know Jason Walton (Agalloch/ Nothing/ Esp like Sloth) Mastered this little known gem. If a label like Hydra Head, Kranky or Southern Don't jump on this band I will be shocked to say the least. There is a strong hint of Agalloch going on over these 6 six too. I can listen to albums like this 10 or 20 times as vocals really take away from the magic of bands like this. Check it out it will have you coming back for more...

INCOMING CEREBRAL OVERDRIVE-CONTROVERSO-CD (Supernaturalcat)
This comes from a long line of bands that are doing the complex avant Post Hardcore we love (Keelhaul, Dillenger Escape Plan, Deadguy thing). Incoming Cerebral Overdrive are very good at what they create but its all band done by bands over and over again for the last 10-15 yrs now. Were bands like Born Against, Deadguy, Converge and even Coalese (who they seem to worship). Have perfected this sound. I wish there was just more independent thought is the songs here as If you give them time and a few more release ICO will sound nothing like this release and I think that is way I have major hope for this band. Sometimes its just better to kill you idols that become them. ICO should check otu bands like Black Army Jacket, Human Remains and Burnt by the sun and they would be well off in the end as I think these sounds would that them to the next level for amazing release. But its just my feedback use it as you wish..

The 69 Eyes- Back in Blood-CD (The End Records)
So when did The End Records decide to go retro and start signing late 80's/ early 90's Hard rock / Indie bands but with The 69 Eyes we have some of the best Hard rock elements going on here of that time frame if you loved The Cult, Hanoi Rocks and Sister of Mercy then my readers this is the CD you need to jump and get asap. The Male/Female vocal mix at times I swear is that Goth/Glam Hardrock sound made so famous from euro bands of the time. There is a full on AC/DC love in the guitar and bass moments too. This is the next big fad to come back I think is the bands that ruled MTV from 1986 to 1990 . Do you remember bands like Bang Tango and Jetboy from the LA scene these two bands have a lot in common with what The 69 Eyes are doing with Back in Blood too. I really like this and if that wrong I don't want to be right... Just on a final thought. I think they should hook up with Duff Mckagens new band " Loaded" as with them and the band "HIM" I think the Hard rocking Goth kids will just cream themselves on a tour like this...
