Godhunter- City of Dust- CD/ Digital (The Compound/ Battleground)

Holy shit I'm in love with this band and they mix 3 of the sounds that make this old goat smile. Sludge/Crust, Death metal and Fuzzed out Rock... Imagine for just a moment if you could mix Cavity, Crowbar, Deep Purple and Dismember into one band you would have Godhunter and I'm talk thick and heavy bluesy riffs mixed with that death metal snarl and the noise and speed of a lumbering water buffalo. The vocals are such a focal point here as well in which their hardcore snarls just make the album folks... Let the Bass lines rumble and the drums fill in the magic where the guitar just need to goto 11!!!!!! Godhunter you keep making your magical sonic elixir  and I will keep on coming on ...

Blood Label- Skeletons- CD/ Digital ( Mighty Music)

If you have members from Hatesphere, Illdisposed and Dawn of Demise come together in a band what do you think your going to hear.... That right a Modern Tech Death metal release and that is just what we have here. Just one thing it kicks so much ass words can not let you understand where this is coming from Blood Label is as Catchy and Riff filled as it's down and dirty Death metal. The skill of this band is to mix complexity, grooves, low end and punk elements all into album that makes you want to circle pit till you pass out.  There are few bands that sound this masses and have a production that truly shows the talents of every part of the band. This is very close to where Devin Townsend is taking us these day but a bit more left field and not so prog in manner. Blood label is a band to watch out for as they are going tot get noticed very quickly...

Folge Dem Wind-  To Summon Twilight- CD/ Digital ( Code666)

Black metal at it's roots is suppose to show a bleak and darkness in ways others can not see. With To Summon Twilight we have a occult black metal album that mixes heathen , ritualistic and the black arts into what I would call Black Progressive thrash. Folge Dem Wind is a band that will make you think as much as fear that will come next out of the speakers. There is a chaos in this that is just barely contained and at any moment will strike it's poison on the world. Heed the warning and check out Folge Dem Wind you will not be disappointed.

Fuoco Fatuo- The viper slithers in the ashes of what remains-CD/ Digital ( Iron Tyrant)

Ultra  Blackened Doom/Death in the same way bands like  WOMB, Incantation or Ceremonium  has given us these hymns of slow, plodding and painfully wonderful sub sonic riffs, The vocals are a journey into suffering in the same way Nile gives use that oriental/ eastern feeling . Fuoco Fatuo make me long for the days of Thergothon, Skepticism, Dusk and Winter...  If you like your sounds to ooze out of the speakers then you have come to the right place there is nothing symphonic or progressive about this force out of Italy and you know what it's just all the better that way. This band could have come straight off of Avantgarde or Wound love records and you would say welcome home my Doom filled brothers... EPIC!!!!!

Sabbath Assembly- Quaternity-CD/ Digital ( Svart)

Sabbath Assembly is more of a theatrical event more then just a musical release and with this their 3rd . This duo has grown into something of a temple of emotion and power. If you will just for a moment think about what Quaternity is, it's a debate on the way we view spirituality at its very source. The music is a mix of  bands like Rachels, Dead can Dance, Cowsills, Mommas and the Pappas and Third and the Mortal mixed with Hexvessel and Tenhi, Its world, folk, 70's, Pop , Neoclassic and Religious music all at the same time.  Sabbath Assembly truly gives me spine tingling chills when I listen to all 3 albums . This is art on the highest of orders. Something a band just speaks to you and this is what is going on with all Sabbath Assembly. There is Beauty in Pain and Sadness in Hope and Sabbath Assembly has all this and more..

Twilight- III- Beneath Tridents Tomb-CD/ Digital ( Century Media)

With this the 3rd and final release from the trouble and magical Twilight we have what would have to be called Post Metal album as they have moved from what I would call Experimental Black metal into a mix of Black, Jazz, Prog, Post rock and Noise rock with this amazing journey into sound. If Mental illness had a sound track it would be the final album from Twilight. The tracks are so focused that I feel the band member actually went in to add so more chaos and off kilter elements just to challenge the listener and this they do. I know for a fact Twilight is not for everyone but for anyone that likes Metal with many twists and turned and something new to hear around every corner this is the album for you and yes I know Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth contributed to the band but I really don't this that is a focus at all he just added his guitar tones that just make the layers all the more interesting . I'm sad to see that this is the final release as its the best one by far and Twilight has grown into a band that is really doing something different and I hope this group of musician works again in a different project and they will make creative music in a different form I'm sure.

The Wounded Kings- Consolamentum- CD/ Digital ( Candlelight Records)

Hypontic Post Doom with a very Classic Doom feel . The Wounded Kings are a product of thier own loves bands like Candlemass, Electric Wizard, Sabbath and a mix of more progressive doom bands like In the Woods , Madder Mortem or While Heaven Wept.. These songs are epic and need to be to get the power and passion out . Love the guitar tone on this album there is just something about its darker then most of those fuzzed out guitar sound and they love to add the sludge noise and drones into the tracks as well, The vocal work very well too. They are more like a sing along to the music and become a tool of the whole her voice reminds me of a band called Mourn i really loved on the flying records label. The Wounded Kings are slow , beautiful and heavy all at the same time and we have another winner in the Doom realm . It's good to see Doom making a come back in the underground again. This band reminds me a lot of of what Katatonia is trying to do as well experiment within a genre and make it something all its own.. Nice work gentlemen and Lady....
