Stand by Records Artist Cinema Sleep Interview

1.We at Absolute Zero Media were just thrown for a loop by this album a mix of Post Hardcore, Metallic Indie Rock and So Cal Punk elements all into one amazing release. Were did the band come from tell us a bit on Cinema Sleep Beginnings.

We were all, minus one, in a previous band for years, which dismantled and things went astray, but that's for a different time. In early 2012 we got back together to form Cinema Sleep and the sound you hear now.

2. If I may be so bold I hear elements of Fall out Boy, My Chemical Romance , Muse and Shinedown all at the same time. Would you call the band or Pop flavored hardcore/punk or do you have more that alt metal ideal going on?
We've always tried to classify ourselves as a more creative radio rock band, but we try to throw elements from many other genres in there as well. We have a very diverse fan base.

3. I think Standy By records is part of the Victory Records family if I remember correctly. How did you get to work with Stand by for the new material?
We were in contact with Neil for quite some time, and eventually things fell into place to where we were able to finally work together.

4. What is a live show like for Cinema Sleep is it more a straight out rock show or are there many visuals going on here?
It's more of a straight up rock show. We put out hearts out there on stage, anyone who hasn't seen us before would be able to tell that we're doing what we love.

5. You could have a video for any song on " Make your way " what would it be and why?
We actually 3 video from "Make Your Way". We have one for "Light to Shadows", "In Dreams" and "The Response", which has become our most popular video.

6. The Harmonies and Raw aggression of the music and vocals are just so damn catchy has the band always sounded like this or has this been a progression over the yrs.
We've definitely progressed, but we've always had the idea and sound going throughout our time together.

7. What is the Cincinnati Ohio music scene like
. Ohio has always been more a metal and classic rock place when I have gone through it. Its that the way still very blue collar? Are there other stand out bands there you would like to speak of ? The Cincinnati scene is very diverse. The main 3 genres that really stick out are hardcore, blues, and pop punk. Our music seems to appeal to all music lovers around here, which is great.

8. Whats you thoughts as a band of the indie music scene in 2013 ??? has the digital age hurt or helps the underground in your eyes?
Social media is key to success is this day in age. You can make it or break it because of sites like Facebook and ITunes. But that being said, there are SO many bands and artists on the internet that it's tough for people to get noticed.

9. If there was one song the can could cover what would it be and why that song over the millions out there?
Probably...."Who Let the Dogs Out", by the Baha Men. Why? Why not??

10. What are the Members of Cinema Sleep currently listening to? As it always seems to tell a lot about the band..
A mix of Black Tide, Breaking Benjamin, John Mayer, Justin Timberlake along with so many more it would take hours to list!

11.Your Official Website seems a bit dated to you as band see social media the way to promote in 2013 Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, Reverbnation etc????
All those sites are the way to promote these days, along with just getting out there and playing as many shows as possible.

12. Were do you see the new material heading a darker , poppier, more metallic??? just wondering if any new material has been worked on since  Make your way?
We actually recorded a full length which will be released in June of 2013. It's definitely a progressed sound from "Make Your Way", but it still has that Cinema Sleep sound.

13. Were did the name Cinema Sleep come from and how does it play in the over all sound or ideal of the band?
Brady, our actually came up with the name, it rolls off the tongue and we feel it fits our music. We're hoping to make the name Cinema Sleep directly connect with the genre/style of music we're trying to do.

14. Thanks for the time any closing thoughts here..
Keep an eye out for our full length release coming in June, as well as some music videos in the near future. We'd also like to thank our good friends at Reverend Guitars and Basses, Omega Enclosures, Aftershock Designs, Dark Horse Percussion, and TRX Cymbals.
